that its industry leading MetaSphere applications suite was recognized with a 2008 VON Innovator Award.
The culmination of a three-month evaluation process, the inaugural VON Innovator Awards identify the most
innovative organizations - from start-ups to publicly traded companies - that represent the future of the
Internet communications industry.
During the evaluation process, MetaSwitch stood out for its historic achievements
in leading the industry in migrating legacy telephone switches to packet architectures, as well as
its introduction last year of the MetaSphere application suite. MetaSphere delivers an extensive set
of revenue-enhancing applications built on a flexible service delivery platform that enables service providers
to rapidly deploy new services on either legacy circuit-switched or packet-based networks.
These services and applications include unified messaging, auto-attendant, privacy defender,
fixed-mobile convergence, hosted IP PBX, conferencing, live message screening, incoming call manager,
the CommAssistant desktop communications manager, and CommPortal, a Web interface built on Web 2.0 standards.

next-generation services to subscribers on legacy TDM access networks or pre-IMS softswitch networks
as well as full IMS network cores. As a result, many carriers are deploying MetaSphere as the first stepping stone
in their migration to a fully realized IMS-based session control architecture.
