The MetaSwitch CA9024 Call Agent Server

The CA9024 delivers 1.3 million busy hour call attempts.

MetaSwitch's CA9000 Series delivers full Call Agent capabilities, including service intelligence, call routing logic, CALEA, media/signaling gateway control and billing, in a high performance carrier-class server platform.

CALL PROCESSING

The CA9000 Series provides comprehensive call control and service logic including

  • support for a wide variety of access and trunking protocols, including MGCP, SIP, H.248, VoATM (BLES), SS7, MF, ISDN-PRI and GR-303, allowing least-cost routing over both TDM and packet networks
  • a complete set of subscriber services such as call waiting, distinctive ringing, teen-line, off-premise extension, automatic callback, reminder call, find me follow me
  • business group (Centrex) functions including short-code dialing, multiple appearance directory numbers, group pick-up
  • an open IMS-compliant SIP interface to external feature servers for enhanced IP-based services such as pre-pay, calling card, voicemail
  • all the key legacy and regulatory requirements including operator services, E911, Lawful Interception (CALEA), Local Number Portability, Equal Access
  • flexible configuration tables permitting effectively unlimited permutations of both signaling and trunk routes for multiple rate centers, LATAs and NPA/NXXs on a single call agent.

SCALABILITY AND REDUNDANCY

The CA9024 Call Agent Server supports up to 1.3 million busy hour call attempts (BHCA) - sufficient for a network of up to 250,000 subscribers.

CA9000 Series servers are deployed in an active/standby pair configuration, for redundancy. A single pair can control an unlimited number of remote Media/Signaling Gateways such as the MetaSwitch MG3500 Series. This enables high scalability and simplifies deployment across large geographical areas.

MEDIA/SIGNALING GATEWAY CONTROL

A CA9000 Series Call Agent uses industry-standard protocols to control MetaSwitch or third-party

  • media (trunk) gateways via H.248
  • signaling gateways via SIGTRAN (M2UA and IUA over SCTP).

INTEGRATED SOFTSWITCH OPTION

If your network does not require distributed architecture or scalability beyond 250,000 busy hour call attempts (approximately 70,000 subscribers), MetaSwitch offers an Integrated Softswitch processor blade, integrating Call Agent, Media and Signaling gateway in a single chassis.

MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS

All CA9000 Series Call Agent servers are fully supported by the MetaView NMS, allowing configuration via an easy-to-use graphical user interface.

External billing / mediation systems are easily integrated since the CA9000 Series generates industry-standard AMA-format (GR-1100) Call Detail Records, accessed by secure ftp.
