Delivering dial-tone. Connecting calls. Serving subscribers. While the fundamentals
of your network do not change, the technology does. And one innovator stands out
in the migration from circuit- to packet-based switching: MetaSwitch.
Collapsing the functionality of a generation of dedicated Class 4 and Class 5 circuit
switches, the MetaSwitch Class 4/5 Softswitch delivers unparalleled calling features
and routing capabilities in a true carrier-class platform. Ranging from a rapidly-deployable
single-chassis switch up to a fully distributed network serving hundreds of thousands
of subscribers, MetaSwitch scales to fit your network regardless of size.
At the heart of every MetaSwitch deployment is the Call Agent
(CA). This central software element, which can be located either on dual redundant
CA servers or on dual redundant processor blades within an Integrated Softswitch,
implements subscriber service intelligence, call routing logic, CALEA, media/signaling
gateway control, and billing.
Enabling interoperability with any network type, the NEBS-compliant MetaSwitch Media Gateway (MG Series) chassis supports T1, T3
and OC3c interfaces, media server and Gigabit Ethernet switching capabilities. The
MG chassis' packet core maximizes network efficiency, while a unique Universal Gateway
card design simplifies system planning with linear scalability (from 384 to 112,000
concurrent calls per 7' rack) and low sparing overhead.
SS7 signaling interfaces are supported on the SG1200 Signaling
Gateway card, which may be deployed in an MG chassis or deployed standalone
within a dedicated Signaling Gateway (SG Series) chassis.
For ultimate deployment simplicity in networks with up to 70,000 subscribers served
from a single switching center, the widely-deployed VP Series Integrated Softswitch
combines all the above components in a single chassis.
