One Communications' Voice Network
|
One Communications is the largest privately-held competitive local exchange carrier in the U.S. serving more
than 160,000 businesses throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Upper Midwest regions with more than
2,200 employees and $800 million in annual revenue.
Formed through the merger of three prominent CLECs, One Communications was tasked with integrating its
formerly independent network architectures. After rigorous testing and evaluation, it selected MetaSwitch as its
common platform for integrated voice and data communications and has begun migrating existing customers
from thirty-three legacy switches. To facilitate this, it contracted with MetaSwitch Professional Services to provide
a variety of migration related services, including project management, migration planning, tool development,
translation services, engineering and troubleshooting support. The MetaSwitch distributed softswitch platform
now supports a variety of standalone and converged voice and data solutions for both its business and carrier
customers.
As a result of these efforts, One Communications is poised to experience substantial switch center savings, a
rapid ROI, and the ability to more efficiently serve a growing array of converged voice and data to its customers,
and deliver on its promise to "Expect more from Onesm."
