Metaswitch Perimeta VNF Certified on RAD vCPE Enables Innovative Voice Services at the Network Edge
Combined solution makes a strong business case for providers exploring NFV/SDN based architectures to drive new managed VoIP services
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – October 3, 2016 – Cloud-native communications software leader Metaswitch today announced the successful certification of its market-leading virtualized Perimeta Session Border Controller (vSBC) for interoperability with RAD’s virtual CPE (vCPE) platform. The combination of vCPE coupled to centrally-orchestrated SBC virtual network function capabilities provides a new, flexible, scalable, software-controlled demarcation point for service providers delivering voice services to enterprise customers.
“Metaswitch’s Perimeta has been certified as interoperable with our ETX-2i vCPE platform,” said Ulik Broida, vice president of marketing and business development at RAD. “RAD’s vCPE platform and Perimeta VNFs support various deployment options required to meet service providers’ agility, performance, security and cost needs.”
The integrated solution includes documented onboarding processes and SBC performance benchmarks for handling SIP-based traffic. It also features an easy-to-implement solution blueprint to accelerate delivery of innovative new vCPE based VoIP services, eliminating hundreds of hours of design and complex verification.
“vCPE platforms are advantageous to service providers looking to cost-effectively deliver a range of communication services to a broad spectrum of end users. By bundling in SBC functions on vCPE platforms, service providers can quickly and efficiently expand their managed services portfolios to include voice,” said Micaela Giuhat, vice president of product management at Metaswitch. “The vCPE-based approach removes the operational complexity of deploying new appliances at the enterprise edge for VoIP services.”
