MetaSwitch Receives Frost & Sullivan 2006 Product Differentiation Innovation Award
MetaSwitch receives Best Practices accolade again from Frost & Sullivan - exemplifies customer focus and leadership in a highly competitive market
Alameda, CA: September 6, 2006. MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next-generation carrier switching and application solutions, announced today it was selected for the Frost & Sullivan Product Differentiation Innovation Award 2006. Frost & Sullivan cited MetaSwitch for its competitive development of a complete line of products and services and excellence in meeting the needs of multiple levels of carrier and service provider customers.
The accolade is the second that Frost & Sullivan has awarded the telecom innovator. The first, in 2003, was for its Product Line Strategy. Since then, MetaSwitch has helped more than 200 service providers migrate their networks to a packet-based switching architecture, shipping millions of Class 5 softswitch licenses and gaining recognition as a clear market leader.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Differentiation Innovation is presented each year to the company that has best demonstrated the ability to develop and/or advance products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors and products. This Award recognizes the company's successful adoption of new or existing technology that has become a part of its well-designed product family. Such innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product performance and degree/rate of technical change.
MetaSwitch was specifically recognized for its ability to differentiate its solutions in a crowded field of telecom vendors targeting the rapidly emerging IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. MetaSwitch's strategy of embracing new application technologies, such as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), while strongly supporting legacy capabilities, stood out for its ability to enable smooth 'stepwise' migration from real-world networks. This in turn provides increased efficiency, a superior end-user experience, and reduced time-to-revenue for new market initiatives.
In addition to strong differentiation in the market, the Frost & Sullivan award recognizes MetaSwitch for its tight focus on customer requirements and the ability to develop key partnerships to deliver superior carrier-class products.
"Based on our knowledge of the telecommunications industry, we view MetaSwitch as a strong competitor with excellent customer relations. They are a prime example of how a company can use best practices to differentiate and succeed in its market," said Shirley Hunt, Strategic Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "By focusing on building solutions to meet customer needs now and in the future, and demonstrating a track record of successful deployments, MetaSwitch has clearly proven that it has the experience and knowledge to succeed in the highly competitive next generation services infrastructure market."
MetaSwitch's robust solutions portfolio provides a straightforward migration path to IMS-based network architecture. With integrated systems for single-switch replacements, to fully-distributed systems supporting all major industry standards, this wide variety of MetaSwitch options has been successfully deployed at customers ranging in size from regional carriers to Tier 1 telephone companies.
"We have worked extremely hard to meet the needs of our customers while at the same time maintaining a focus on standards and interoperability as the right direction for the industry," said John Lazar, MetaSwitch's chief executive officer. "We are absolutely dedicated to providing top-notch products for the complex needs of an evolving industry."
