Former Cisco Executive, BellSouth Officer to lead Global Field Operations
San Francisco, CA, December 1, 2011 – Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of the software and solutions that power a whole new generation of communications services, today announced the appointment of Ray Smets as senior vice president of field operations, reporting to CEO Kevin DeNuccio. Mr. Smets will be based in San Francisco with responsibility for the worldwide customer facing organization including direct and channel sales, customer support and international product development.

Most recently with Cisco Systems, Ray held the position of vice president/general manager of the Wireless Networking Business Unit. Prior to Cisco, Ray served as vice president of sales and marketing at Packeteer, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Netopia, and president of Network General at McAfee Security, Inc. Additionally, Ray served as an officer of BellSouth Corporation in various positions including president of BellSouth Internet Services, Inc., president of Applied Technologies, Inc., and vice president of Network Transformation.
